White willow bark has been used for centuries in ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Native American medicine to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. It contains salicin, a natural compound that inspired the development of modern aspirin. Native to Europe, Asia, and parts of North America, white willow trees thrive near rivers and moist soils. Traditionally, the bark was steeped as a tea or chewed to ease headaches, joint pain, and fevers.
